I have been working with placing things on my new island all day. Everything was fine up until a couple of minutes ago. I went to rotate an object and I can no longer see the compass points. I don't know what I might have done or how to fix it. Any ideas? :(

Please, provide the log.

Also note that the compass only shows when rotating an object around the X, Y or Z axis (i.e. it doesn't show when rotating "freely").

Henri, I have noticed a similar occurance as well with the last 2 versions.

2 additional thing noticed which is likely not related, other than Build Related, so I am putting it into this thread.

1) If you take an object (single or multi prim) place it at exactly 128.0, 128.0, 22.0 (as an example zero'd location) and that same object has a rotation of 0,0,0 (so it is not rotated or angled) and then you make a Shift Copy, the copied item goes off rotation onto a slight angle and the position is also off by a slight bit.

I have tested this on both OpenSim & SL with the same results, which leads me to conclude that it is viewer related and simulator independent.

2) If camera distance is set to >256m out to 512 and while camming around a region (sim) editing objects, you can only apparently edit an object @ less than 128m distance from avatar position. Exceeding that 128m you can no longer select an object to edit. This occurs even if you right click on object to edit it. While this may not be a major issue for most folks, I do tend to park my avie in centre of region when working on a full sim build and cam about the region to edit objects as required. (This behaviour does not exist in older Cool VL Viewer or current V3 viewers (I also use Zen & FS when needed)).

Specs for the WorkStation I am using for your reference:

There has been no change to object editing in the several last weeks, so if it affects the latest releases it should affect older releases as well...

This is all Chinese to me... What do you mean by "place it at exactly 128.0, 128.0, 22.0 (as an example zero'd location) and that same object has a rotation of 0,0,0 (so it is not rotated or angled)" ??????

Please, provide a step by step reproduction procedure.

This is in no way a bug. Simply uncheck the "Limit Select Distance" (or adjust the distance to your liking) in the Preferences floater, "Input & camera" tab, "Input controls" sub-tab.

I don't update as frequently as I should as CV is not my primary viewer but I use it quite often depending on purpose and for testing environments.

By placing an object @ zeroed coordinates so the X,Y,Z sit on zero's. for example <128.000,128.000,25.000> or any other zeroed coordinate. Same for rotation of 0,0,0. Then shift copy that item and you will notice that it not has a slight angle (rotation) and is offset from position. If you shift copy you would expect the new object coordinate to be at <128.000, 130.000, 25.000> but what you get is <128.001, 130.000, 25.001> or similar depending on the direction & obj size. The numbers vary a little depending on object & how far it's copied of course. These are Examples which can be replicated.

I always disable Camera Constraints & Limit Select Distance as have done for all my years with SL/OpenSim. This is not a factor with the issue.
