I just got a new video board with 1g memory, but the texture memory slider wont go higher then 512 is that supposed ot happen? or can we get the slider to go further?
This slider is just for the textures (the video card RAM is also used for vertex buffers, Z-buffers, etc...). It is not possible to allocate more memory to the textures either since it means that up to 1.5 times the allocated amount must also be reserved in the CPU RAM; allocating more would cause the viewer process virtual address space (which is limited to 3Gb or so) to be "eaten" up much more quickly, causing crashes or blurry textures in crowded or heavily textured sims. The viewer doesn't need more than 512Mb of texture memory anyway (you won't see a noticeable difference with more allocated memory).
