Feature request: saved graphics settings

As a photographer in SL, I often need to go on ultra with all the graphics bells and whistles turned on. But this setting is hard to use in 'daily life', especially in crowded places, where it tends to make the viewer crash because of memory issues… But if I go to lower graphics settings, when I want to take photos again, I have to change back quite a few of my settings 'manually', as the default 'ultra' settings are missing a few things I'm using… It would be very nice if I could do settings that work for photos, settings that work for 'normal' life, and save them both to be able to get them back at once just by selecting them.

Would you consider such a feature in Cool VL Viewer?

Thank you! :)

You could simply use two different command lines and two settings files to start the (same) viewer for either photographic use or everyday's life use. Use the normal shortcut (i.e. empty command line) for everyday, then another with "--settings settings_coovlviewer_12610_photo.xml" as the command line, for the photographic use. To create the settings_coovlviewer_12610_photo.xml file, go to the user settings directory and copy settings_coovlviewer_12610.xml as settings_coovlviewer_12610_photo.xml, then launch the photo session using the new shortcut, adjust your graphics settings as desired and save them.

Done !

Note: 12610 refers to the v1.26.10 branch settings. Change to 1268 or 12611 if you are using either v1.26.8 or v1.26.11...

Command line, what's that? ;) But yes, that would work… Forces to relog each time I want to change my settings though, so less practical than what I had in mind, but I can live with that I guess. :)

Thank you!
