Quite often, users will forget to put on a group tag for the parcel they're on, and become frustrated to find that they cannot build, or get a nasty surprise when the build they were working on gets auto-returned. As a usability and time-saving improvement, perhaps a feature could be implemented for automatically setting your group.

If you try to rez on land that is build-disabled for people not wearing the group tag, Cool Viewer could automatically set your group tag when you try to rez (or prompt you first, optionally). And if you build on land with auto-return, Cool Viewer could do the same thing (optional prompt). Lastly, as part of this feature, the groups window could have an extra button, "Activate Land Group", which autodetects the group of the land you're on, and sets your group tag to the appropriate group (if you are in that group).

you mean, like in emerald...?

i really hate that the emerald guys don't supply diffs for their mods.
i hate even more how you have to run the whole source thru dos2unix on linux systems so that you can at least TRY to build it.

Didn't know Emerald had that feature. But I don't use emerald because of how much it lags, freezes, and crashes on my system.

I don't use emerald except for special occasions (i.e. i want to use that "object finder" feature), because emerald doesn't remember that I've disabled voice. Have to switch that off EVERY time I start it.

Okay, I'm not a fan of this emerald thing, but there's one feature I really like to see in my beloved and all time favorite Cool VL Viewer. Something I'm jealous of emerald viewer users. It's this option always rez on landgroup if possible. Means, no matter what group I actually have activated if I'm a member of the current landgroup I rez every object on that landgroup the parcel is set to.

I think especially builders would be very thankful for that option. If you saw enough things you were working on flying around your ears because of parcel autoreturn just because you again forgot to change your active group, then you really know what would come handy... this feature. ;)

I'm also in favor of this feature, and had suggested it a while back, though at the time I first posted it, I hadn't known Emerald had the feature.

I merged the two topics. Before posting in the forum, please check (via a search) that your topic has not already been posted. Thank you.

This feature will be in today's releases.

This feature has proven to be very useful and has saved me from a few headaches :D

I do have an additional suggestion: If the group land has rezzing disabled for non-group members, the Build button on the toolbar is grayed out. Can it be tweaked so that the Build button isn't grayed out if you're a group member?
