May we get the feature our Phoenix and SLV 2.1 companions have that allows us to see the Artist and Song Title of what is playing in Parcel Media? My Phoenix friends think its funny to copy and paste what is currently playing to me in local chat.

Click, click. Click, click. <----Just checking to see if my computer was working....seeing lots of views but no answers to the question posed. Maybe everyone sees a blank instead of a question?

Sorry, but this kind of feature would be on the very bottom of my priority list: top priority stuff deals with bug fixes and backports of *important* features from v2 viewers (such as alpha and tattoo wearables support, inventory item links support, multiple attachments per point support, display names support, all of which I already backported, and mesh support (or alternatively a move to v2 code), which is still to be done).
Please, bear in mind that I am the only person working on the Cool VL Viewer: I can't compete with teams of developers as far as the number of additional minor features go, but on the other hand, I can guarantee that the Cool VL Viewer will never get bloated or crippled up (bug-wise) with secondary features that only a handful of users would ever use...
When I don't reply to a feature request, it's either because I didn't yet have the time to investigate what coding (and testing, and debugging) effort it would require, or because I didn't yet decide as to when I would implement it.

Actually, I use this all the time as I travel around the grid and wonder what the Artist or Song Name is of the music that is playing where I currently am at. It shows up in local chat on Phoenix 1.5.2.x so I know it can be backported from SLV2 somehow. I suspect that at some point someone will get the idea of this info line in local chat being made clickable like the http address lines and have it take the person to a music store page that allows them to purchase the song they listened to. I wonder what that revenue stream would be like for LL or the TPV creator that could set it up ?

I wrote a script for a HUD you can wear that will fetch the song info. Currently you have to program it with the URL of the music stream, but it would be trivial to add a feature that would either find out from the region you are in automatically, or at least let you type in the URL in chat so you don't have to constantly open the object to edit it.
Contact me inworld and I'll share what I have with you. Segmentationfault String.

While it is possible to make a HUD that can show Song Title and Artist of the music stream that is playing, it is much more convenient to have it show in local chat.
Secondly, as more and more sims pursue lowering wearable script counts and script memory allocations it simply makes more sense to have it in the viewer itself, as some other viewers based on SLV 2.x (along with Phoenix 1.x) and newer now do.
It is the reason I flip flop between viewers right now as on the one hand I prefer Cool VL and Singularity to any of the others for anything other than casual use, but when I am in a casual mode, sim hopping or whatever, I keep having to go to back to Phoenix for this one particular feature (and I loathe Phoenix/Firestorm groups practice of lying to people about the demise of V1).

I recently discovered that the code that is being used in Firestorm, Kirsten's Viewer, Dolphin2, and SLV2 for getting Parcel Media Identification actually came from Katharine Berry's 'Kitty Viewer' and can be found here: https://github.com/Katharine/kittyviewer/commits?page=4P.S. It seems to come in both Windows and Linux flavors, and there is even a bit newer piece for 'polling' added to workaround a conflict with OpenGL. https://github.com/Katharine/kittyviewe ... 4f45086646
