I haven't confirmed this but I heard that V2 now offers 6 tattoo layers. Any chance we can get the same in CV soon?

I don't know about numbers, but in 2.x you can definitely wear more than one of each clothing layer, which can be confusing and useful at the same time

Hi Henri ,
I love cool vl viewer ..can you please bring out multiple tattoo layers in the next update. As am a female avi.. I need it badly to use makeups and hairbase, freckles and many things. I would be more than glad if you think about this.
Also if we could get more clothing layers it would be great.
Love Honey

Henri, Now that things are well and good with display names and meshes still on the beta grid, could you please revisit considering multiple tattoo and clothing layers being backported from v2? This is not a critical thing, as you said but it is a huge concern for the fashion conscious and thus making Cool VL look better in the public eye. It's fast, easy, powerful and for slick, professional avatars if you could please adopt this upgrade that the Lab was nice enough to throw everyone. Thank you, Arzach

In case you did not notice, Meshes are still on LL's agenda (and they said they would post that agenda by the end of May, giving the ETA of this feature), and I just forked the Cool VL Viewer and created the v1.26 branch to implement Meshes in it...
My priorities didn't change and while multiple clothing layers are possible to port, they are still just a "nice to have" feature, and in no way a hard requirement for the viewer compatibility with the grid, something that Mesh support will become, sooner or later (and probably sooner than later, given the recent changes made to LL's viewer-development branch)...

I haven't used another viewer in a long time, except when I have been forced to, by skins that were customized by wearing multiple tattoo layers, but I am told that the current generation of viewers all have multiple alpha layers. I applaud all the work you have done in bringing us mesh, but the actual ability to wear it is hampered by the one alpha layer limit. It means we can wear a mesh dress but not mesh shoes. Mesh pants, but not a mesh top. Mesh top but not a mesh skirt. Mesh clothing and regular clothing just don't seem to...well...mesh, if you will excuse a pun.
I hope you will have time to put in multiple alpha layers, so that we can benefit fully from all your hard work in bringing mesh to Cool VL Viewer.

PS - multiple tattoo layers while you were at it would not be amiss...more and more skin lines are coming out designed to be worn with more then one tattoo.

Meshes and clothing layers have nothing to do with each others ! You can perfectly wear multiple meshes which are actually attached objects, and the Cool VL Viewer *does* support multiple objects per per attachment point, so you may even wear several meshes on the same point (though, the point on which you wear a mesh object doesn't matter the least: the mesh aligns with the avatar skeleton, whatever the joint you attach it to) !
As for multiple clothing layers, they will come in due time as more of the v2/v3 code is pushed into the Cool VL Viewer. However, a first step will be to get a stable Mesh-based branch (v1.26.2), and I still need to do more work on v1.26.1 to reach this milestone.

I've tried on dozens of mesh outfit pieces and not found one that did not come with it's on alpha layer to erase your body so it fits the clothing. So while mesh may in theory not have anything to do with alpha points, actually wearing mesh clothing does. I've tried wearing the clothing with the alpha layers and it's not pretty. There is on poncho I can wear without the Alpha if I wear the size that is way too big for me, and it looked it.
