Hello Henri, hi everyone,

it seems the viewer makes quite a bit of use of the system's temporary directory (e.g. "/tmp" under Linux) when downloading data, which it then attempts to 'move' to the user's cache directory. Obviously this operation fails if the two directories reside on different file systems, so the data will be copied instead, which of course is a more 'expensive' operation. I checked and it seems the viewer can't be convinced to use a different temporary directory, short of building it yourself.

Is this so? And if it is, would it be feasible to make that location configurable either via setting or even environment variable?

Or did I completely miss something obvious? :? Thank you in advance!

Love,
Lia

The next releases will make use of the temporary directory pointed to by the TMP or TMPDIR (in that preference order) environment variable, if any, and will fall back to /tmp if they don't exist or are empty.
