Helloo again, I been recomming CoolVL to a lot of my friends, and they have come across a problem with Win8, specially 64bit. CoolVL shows in task manager but wont start, any ideas why? Win Defender isnt blocking it, nor virus programs.

No idea, and since I'm not going to buy Win8 just to test the Cool VL Viewer on it, I guess you'll have to find out what blocks it by yourself...

It's definitely not a general problem with Win8-64 as the Cool VL Viewer is working fine for me on such a system. Must be something specific about your machine.
Is this the current Cool VL version? Henri added support for a few more graphics cards last weekend. If the version you are using is older than that and you have one of those graphics cards... well...

Also, do try v1.26.5, since it doesn't use tcmalloc (unlike the Windows version of v1.26.4) which has been known to cause issues with some Windows software installed (I don't remember which, but there's a JIRA, somewhere, about it). I'm also surprised to see Cool VL Viewer users "upgrading" (more like downgrading) to Windows 8 given how huge and stupid have been the UI changes in the latter... I would expect Cool VL Viewer users to be very much against such UI changes...

The same could be said about Gnome 3, says someone who converted to XFCE rather than "upgrade" to Gnome 3. But, the fact is, Cool VL Viewer is just the best viewer out there no matter what the OS UI happens to be. Face it Henri, even people who "downgrade" their operating systems still want the best viewer.

Still using Gnome 2 here (and will probably go the Mate route when I will update to a newer distro), though "using Gnome 2" is a bit of an exaggeration (using Sawfish as my window manager, ROX-Filer (v1 !!!) as my file manager/desktop pinboard, Sylpheed for emails, gftp for FTP, Firefox for the web, Nedit for text editing (and coding), etc... No Gnome component, but for the gdm login manager, the Gnome task bar and applets...).

Win8 64 Bit should just work fine, technically its just a windows 7.1 with some silly Metro style UI patch installed.
@Henri: Its not that bad, actually its a bug fix release for Win7, just ignore the Metro junk, it does not matter for day to day operation (for more than 10 seconds).
If it does not work, try to find the logfiles and post them (same instructions as Win7).
