Hi

I play a lot of old time movies on my sim, however I have reccently noticed that there is no audio from the movies being olayed. I tested the same movie using another viewer and it worked without any problems. My audio works for music playback but not for video. What could be the cause of this and is there a solution. I have tried clearing cache and even clean installs but no joy.

I am using the latest Legacy Viewer.

Thanks folks

Jim

There has been no change in many weeks in the audio and media code, so if it worked for you after the last change, it should still work now, unless something changed on your system. In any case, I cannot diagnose a problem if you don't provide the info required in the rules for this forum.

Cannot reproduce...

Tested with the media URL found in the log file, set as parcel media, tests done under both Linux and Windows (see

taken under Windows), with sound playing just fine and perfectly synced too...

Check that your system got the latest Quicktime player codecs (or Quicktime Alternative) installed properly and that your audio drivers are also up to date and its mixer configured to play all channels (coming from both the viewer and SLPlugin.exe, the task used by the viewer to play the media). Also check that no over-zealous anti-virus is blocking SLPlugin.exe in one way or another... Oh, and check that the media volume is not set to 0 in the viewer (general media volume, available from the master volume controls button, at the bottom right of the viewer window) or for that particular media (use the media HUD sound button to adjust the volume)...

i checked everything you said to do in your rely but no joy. In the end I got desperate. this is what I did :P

1. Uninstalled all viewers from my notebook.
2. Deleted all folders related to the uninstalled viewers from the programs folder.
3. looked in following directories username/appdata/local
username/appdata/roaming
Deleted all folders that related to the uninstalled viewers including the second life folders.
4. Restarted my pc.
5. Installed cool viewer (legacy version)
6. Enjoyed watching my movie with audio.

I still don't know what the cause was but this seams to have done the trick. Thank you Henri for you time and help with this matter. Cool viewer is a my favorite viewer and I appreciate those involved with its development.

Jim
