Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Please, see the roadmap for news about the various branches.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.37 (legacy stable branch with v3.5 renderer: no materials support):

Note: this branch is now considered legacy.

New in this release:
  • Plugged more crash cases for memory allocation failures.
  • Backported a few fixes from LL's viewer-interesting branch.
  • Implemented currency symbols support (replacing L$ and/or US$ in the UI where appropriate) for OpenSim grids.
  • Added a "Create Missing System Folders" feature to the "File" menu of the Inventory floater (may be of use in some OpenSim grids that don't properly setup the initial inventory: seen in DreamNation).
  • The deformer feature is now available in both OpenSim grids and the SL beta grid (Aditi). It is disabled in the SL production grid.
  • FMOD Ex updated to v4.44.25.
  • A few minor fixes and optimizations.
  • Added Virtual Highway and DreamNation grids and updated the login URI for Virtyou in the OpenSim default grids list.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.10.0 (current stable branch with the v3.6 renderer):

Note: this branch is the new stable branch (based off the former experimental v1.26.9 branch).

Same changes as in v1.26.8.37, plus:
  • Fixed the normal and specular maps textures highlighting in Edit mode.
  • Backported the latest changes to shaders from LL's viewer-release.
  • Implemented materials exporting and importing support for the Object Backup feature.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

These are mainly polishing releases.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.38 (legacy stable branch with the v3.5 renderer: no materials support):

New in this release:
  • Improved shared media handling (backport of some code from LL's viewer-release).
  • Improved the grid and real money symbols substitution algorithm to include UI elements built before login to an OpenSim grid (i.e. mainly, the File menu entries).
  • Implemented saving to file of default and current, global and per-account settings (in the Advanced menu).
  • Cleaned up the settings files (removal of unused settings, reordering in the alphabetical order...).
  • Backported a minor improvement to fonts code from LL's viewer-interesting branch.
  • Backported a minor speed optimization to alpha rendering from Singularity.
  • Removal of some dead/unused code.
  • FMOD Ex updated to v4.44.26.
  • Various other minor fixes and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.10.1 (current stable branch with the v3.6 renderer):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.38, plus:
  • Fixed the shared media bug (introduced in v1.26.9.18) that caused mouse events to be ignored or badly taken into account by the media. See this thread for details.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.97 (older, legacy stable branch with the v2.6 renderer: no materials support, no ribbon particles rendering):

  • This is a catchup with all the bug fixes and some of the improvements that went into v1.26.8 since v1.26.4.96 was released.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is one new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

This is the first release for the new experimental branch. Note that it still got MANY glitches (in particular, objects sometimes not rezzing unless you pan the camera far out and back in, objects failing to rez on return to a previously visited region, memory sometimes not properly released after a TP, and probably many more issues...). Please, do not report such glitches for now (I know they exist, and so does LL for their viewer-interesting project: they will be corrected over time). For now, I'm only interested in crash bugs with this branch as well as in possible OpenSim-specific issues.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.11.0 (experimental branch with new objects caching scheme):

New in this release:
  • Backported the new objects caching scheme/algorithm from LL's viewer-interesting project viewer: a very promising improvement on memory consumption (which is lower), FPS rate (which is sometimes *much* higher) and rezzing time.
  • Various other minor fixes and optimizations.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is one new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Users of v1.26.11.0 shall update.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.11.1 (experimental branch with new objects caching scheme):

New in this release:
  • Fixed the bug that prevented object flags (touch, pay, modify, etc) to be propagated from the cache to the rezzed objects on cache updates (this caused an impossibility to touch, pay, edit, etc random objects in your avatar's field of view).
  • Fixed the bug that prevented cache files to be written to the disk (a blunder of mine, not LL's), which meant loosing the benefit of caching on return to visited regions.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is one new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

This is the last release for this now unmaintained branch. Users of older v1.26.4 releases should update.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.98 (legacy stable branch with the v2.6 renderer):

New in this release:
  • Fix for a potential crash bug in the messaging system (backport from LL's viewer).
  • Added the "GetMesh2" capabilities support (toggle in "Advanced" -> "Network"): note that this capability is supposed to be used with a HTTP fetcher that can use pipelining, but such a fetcher has not yet been implemented for meshes (the "GetMesh2" usage is therefore not really an improvement in this context, but just a way to keep the viewer working even if LL decides to remove the old "GetMesh" capability in the future).
  • FMOD Ex updated to v4.44.27.
  • Littlefield Grid added to the default list of OpenSim grids.
  • Some minor code cleanup that went into the v1.26.8 branch since v1.26.4.97 has been released.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.39 (legacy stable branch with the v3.5 renderer: no materials support):

New in this release:
  • Removed support for Mesh Deformer in Aditi (since LL decided that it would never be adopted): the mesh deformer feature stays available for OpenSim grids.
  • Fix for a potential crash bug in the messaging system (backport from LL's viewer).
  • Added a "Show Avatar Joints" feature (in "Advanced" -> "Character" -> "Character debugging"), which is a backport from storm-1985 (fitted mesh) with debugging and improvements by me.
  • Backported (and improved/refined) a couple of optimizations from Singularity.
  • FMOD Ex updated to v4.44.27.
  • Littlefield Grid added to the default list of OpenSim grids.
  • Various other minor fixes and optimizations.
  • Linux builds are now compiled on a 2010-ish system with gcc v4.4.3: the new requirements for running the Linux binaries have therefore been raised to glibc v2.11.1 or newer and libstdc++ v6.0.13 or newer.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.10.2 (current stable branch with the v3.6 renderer):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.39, plus:
  • Backported a couple of fixes to rendering glitches from viewer-bear.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.11.2 (experimental branch with new objects caching scheme and fitted mesh support):

Same changes as in v1.26.10.2, plus:
  • Fixed water bodies and some objects not rendering after a TP.
  • Fixed full region caching not working because of missing "RequestFullRegionCache" setting in settings.xml.
  • Improved the logic for retention of non-rezzed objects in the objects caching code.
  • Backported from viewer-interesting a fix to a crash bug that could occur when teleporting just after crossing a sim border.
  • Backported fitted mesh support (enabled via "Advanced" -> "Rendering" -> "Enable Fitted Mesh (after restart)") from LL's viewer branch storm-1985, with added fixes from FITMESH-2.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

These are bug fix releases; updating to them is recommended.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.10.3 (current stable branch with the v3.6 renderer):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.40 (legacy stable branch with the v3.5 renderer: no materials support):

New in these releases:
  • Fixed the hover tool tip bug that was introduced in the last releases. See this thread for details.
  • Fixed a bug in dead the objects cleanup code, that could cause random crashes and/or memory leaks.
  • Backported a couple of bug fixes (including a potential infinite loop/crash bug fix) from LL's viewer-bear.
  • When the input text editor is opened, the cursor is now properly set in the edited text at the same position as in the associated (chat or IM) input-line.
  • Added a bunch of GPUs to the table of supported GPUs list.
  • Various other minor fixes and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.11.3 (experimental branch with new objects caching scheme and fitted mesh support):

Same changes as in v1.26.10.3, plus:
  • Fixed the bug that caused the objects cache settings not to be properly initialized on login until the draw distance was changed.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-interesting a couple of fixes to non-rezzing prims issues.
  • Backported the latest changes from LL's fitted mesh project viewer.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

These are bug fix releases; updating to them is highly recommended.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.41 (legacy stable branch with the v3.5 renderer: no materials support):

New in this release:
  • Fixed a very bad bug (which also affects all current v3 viewers and derived TPVs) in the mesh repository that lead to a memory leak, virtual address space fragmentation and sometimes to mesh queue stalling (and if you increased the mesh concurrency to get over the stalling, it could also lead to Curl handles exhaustion): all this havoc just because of a missing mutex lock...
  • Backported from viewer-bear a fix to a potential crash bug in the UDP messaging system.
  • Backported from viewer-interesting a fix to a potential (albeit never seen here) crash bug in the UI code.
  • Included a patch by Charles Clary that improves the camera handling when editing the avatar appearance: the camera focus is not changed any more if both auto-focusing on edited parts and appearance edit animation playing are disabled.
  • A lot of code cleanup (and in particular "BOOL" eradication in favour of native "bool" in llappearance, llaudio, llcharacter, llcommon, llinventory, llrender...).
  • Various other code cleanup, minor fixes and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.10.4 (current stable branch with the v3.6 renderer):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.41, plus:
  • Added a setting and the corresponding "Pick Particles" toggle in the "Tools" menu, so to be able to disable particles picking on right-click, that gets in the way when you want to edit an object surrounded with or emitting particles...

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.11.4 (experimental branch with new objects caching scheme and fitted mesh support):

Same changes as in v1.26.10.4, plus:
  • Fitted mesh is now always enabled (having it switchable caused issues with the compiled shaders caching feature of some drivers, such as NVIDIA's).

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Since this period of the year is a "no change window" for LL and since I'm also busy, here are "only" bug fix and cleanup releases; updating to them is recommended.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.42 (legacy stable branch with the v3.5 renderer: no materials support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.10.5 (current stable branch with the v3.6 renderer):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.11.5 (experimental branch with new objects caching scheme and fitted mesh support):

New in these releases:
  • Fixed a bug in appearance editing that was introduced by mistake two weeks ago. See this thread for details.
  • A lot of code cleanup (and in particular "BOOL" eradication in favour of native "bool" in llcharacter, llmath, llmessage, llprimitive, llvfs, llxml...).

Enjoy ! :D

This is still a "no change window" for LL and since I'm also busy with other stuff, here are only bug fix and cleanup releases.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.43 (legacy stable branch with the v3.5 renderer: no materials support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.10.6 (current stable branch with the v3.6 renderer):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.11.6 (experimental branch with new objects caching scheme and fitted mesh support):

New in these releases:
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the 5th layer of a wearable to fail to be restored on relog when COF-based outfit restoration is used. See this thread for details.
  • Some code cleanup (and in particular "BOOL" eradication where possible in favour of native "bool" in llwindow).

Enjoy ! :D
