Our Grid just recently upgraded to OS 0.9. Since the upgrade there been issues with loading inventory as one of many issues. Every time I log in I have to re-download Inventory and takes hours to load. I was wondering if Cool VL Viewer supported this version of OS 0.9?

Thanks,
Geoff

It would have been nice if you could have told what grid exactly you referred to... I found out that DreamNation is a probable candidate (since I found an avatar going by the same name as your pseudo here, and since it's v0.9 server with indeed inventory issues).

I am not aware of any breakage in OpenSim inventory protocol over the SL standards, but it won't be the first time that OpenSim developers change something without telling what they changed and how to the viewer developers... :(

In any case, I tried to log in in all the OpenSim grids I got an avatar for, a few of them running OpenSim v0.9 as well (and a few more even newer (?) versions: I even saw v1.1.xxx...), and only found an issue with HTTP inventory fetches on DreamNation: I therefore infer that the problem is server side, not viewer side. Disabling HTTP inventory fetches (setting UseHTTPInventory to FALSE from the debug settings floater at the login screen, or by unchecking "Advanced" -> "Network" -> "Use HTTP inventory fetches" and relogging) "solves" (by switching to UDP fetches) the issue.

The problem you encounter could be either due to broken communications between the database and the HTTP sever, a badly configured HTTP server, bad CGI scripts for the inventory capabilities, or bad FetchInventory2/FetchInventoryDescendents2 capabilities (usually, a missing or an extraneous ending "/", but this could just be a typo in the capability UUID as well) sent to the viewers.
If these fail, I suggest you ask the OpenSim developers what they changed/broke, and report to me here, so that I can take the necessary measure, if needed.

Oh sorry about not mentioning DreamNation as the grid name. But yes it is that grid. Our tech gurus who we refer to as our Dream Monkeys think they narrowed it down to that FetchInventoryDescendents2. But too early to say right now.

Thanks,
Geoff

I wanted to let you know that I did uncheck "Use HTTP inventory fetches" and that seems to work. My inventory is loading much faster now and I can see everything in my inventory. Thank you! However there is still the underline issue of inventory loading. But I am sure it will be fixed soon.

Thanks,
Geoff

Hello,
Ever since we (DreamNation) upgraded to 0.9.0 there been a lot of issues. The main issue is that I have been getting corrupted files in my inventory. It has been suggested that my viewer might be the cause. I don't see how though and I refuse to use another viewer!
The last two times my inventory was corrupted was only attachments I wore. Clothing, mesh body, accessories. When I notice the corruption was right after I couldn't rez and so I un-attached everything and re-attached everything which has worked in the past. This time Items would not fully rez on me and I looking in my inventory the cube icons no longer had a name or description attached to it. See attached picture.

When the corrupted items are rez, its only the parent prim that rezes, and child prims are no longer linked and not there. So I was told to wait until they upgraded the servers memory from 32gb to 64gb which could solve the issues since 0.9 uses more memory and it was using swappable memory that could have cause the issues with inventory. When the servers' were upgraded everything seem fine but when I was with another avatar they said my attached items were in front of me on the ground. I couldn't see it and was given a snapshot. See attached picture, I'm in the blue shirt with the yellow hardhat on.

I decided to un-attach everything. The items when away. I then re-attached everything and that's when I noticed corrupted items in my inventory. See attached picture you can see mu shoes are no longer fully there and the items in mu inventory are corrupted.

I'm not sure what to do and getting tired of having to replace my items and setup new outfits. I have checked with other members, It seems I am the only one using Cool VL but other people do have some corrupted files in their inventory but not the issues I am seeing. Do you think Cool VL is responsible as it might be suggested?

Dream Nation got issues with HTTP inventory fetches (see this thread for details). Simply turn off HTTP inventory (from Advanced -> Network) till they get their issue fixed.

Oh ok, I turned it back on when they said they fixed the loading of inventory issue. Do you think that is the cause of the corrupted item issue?

Clear your cache (which got corrupted) and let the viewer reload your inventory, with HTTP fetches off.

I have done that in the past where is was suggested that I delete all folders and files related to cache after uninstalling the viewer. But forgot to turn off the HTTP fetching.

Now what I can see is that these continuing problems are related to attached inventory items. Especially when you add items in bulk! Like if you have outfits saved for each inventory folder. I believe when adding everything to your avatar all at once is causing the corruption. If it rezs at all the parent prim only rez and the child prims are nowhere to be found. Some mesh items like clothing will be corrupted and no names attached to it, but will rez and can be seen fully warn. At least from my prospective I have not asked other avatars to see if they can see it. After testing this method on 3 different viewers, the results are the same. So I can rule out Cool VL, which makes me happy. Those other viewers are crap!

Like I said, it's not a viewer issue. Dream Nation just must fix their server bug/configuration.
