I know that not many folks use voice, but I do once in a while. I don't know when (maybe when LL did recent voice maint.?) it stopped connecting. My system info is: A log of just logging in and toggling voice off and then off is attached. There are a couple of maybe interesting apr errors. There is also a coredump of SLVoice, that I found in system logs.

It looks like LL finally broke voice for old SLVoice clients... I'm afraid it means that if you really need voice, you will have to use another viewer, because I got zero interest and motivation to update the voice code in my viewer, since: - I never use voice myself.
- There is no new SLVoice client for Linux anyway.
- The work involved to backport the new voice code would require quite a lot of coding and debugging time, which I'm not ready to invest for a feature I do not use.
If you can find someone willing to do the backport work from another viewer to the Cool VL Viewer, then I might consider including their work into my viewer. Otherwise, voice will stay unusable in SL with it (unless LL "unbreaks" it again for the old SLVoice clients, like they already did in the past).

That's unfortunate but I thought it might be the case. I knew that Linux voice support was on borrowed time. I am a developer but alas, I don't have experience in the viewer code base and my C/C++ skills are decades old. I have the time and moderate motivation but I lack the know how. Linux viewers are scarce and your is by far, in my opinion, superior to others because it is light and fast so I can just run without it for now.

I just saw an incident dealing with voice reported on the SL status page. While this incident affects voice morphing, which my viewer does not implement, it may nonetheless be related with the change in voice connectivity with old voice clients. If I were you, I'd open a support ticket and see what happens...

Another change that I did not notice, happened in some simulators with "Voice service service adjustments" listed in their change log... So I think it might be worth it, for people wanting voice to work again in the Cool VL Viewer, to open a support ticket...

I have been away but checked this forum and did submit a support request as you suggest. My feeling is they will hardly pay any attention because I'm on Linux AND use a TPV. I indicated I the Voice Morph issue, Server change and my experience may be related. We shall see if they respond or not.

At least I heard back from Linden about the opened support request. They said: So no joy, but that's OK. I rarely used Voice anyway.

As usual, they don't reply to the question, which is why voice suddenly ceased working while it worked OK before... They (or the voice service provider) did change something that broke old voice clients, and they should be able to undo it... But they won't, because they are stubborn...

Heh, I agree. From a business perspective, I understand their choices somewhat. From an end user's perspective, I'm less understanding. Linux is growing in popularity. It is becoming more mainstream and I wish businesses could embrace that.

I have been doing a bit more digging and testing on this issue. I maxed the VivoxDebugLevel to 5 and noticed a failure in two of the Actions the viewer's voice client invokes: Account.ListBlockRules.1 and Account.ListAutoAcceptRules.1. As far as I can tell, they do not return anything or at least not what they used to return. If I comment out the two calls in newviewer/llvoiceclient.cpp which invoke them (accountListBlockRulesSendMessage() on 2132 and accountListAutoAcceptRulesSendMessage() on 2135), I can get the voice client to connect successfully and pass a simple, usability test in 'Voice Echo Canyon'. I am not entirely certain what those Actions are for, because I can't find any relevant doc online (Linden or otherwise). They certainly aren't listed here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Voice/Technical. My theory is they are for automatically blocking and/or accepting voice chat requests (based on surrounding code). I am certainly not advocating doing what I did nor have I tested in a real, live chat scenario. This problem just bugged me and I wanted to report back what I have found/learned so far.
