That's strange, indeed... Also, I see 0 reference to libasound neither libSDL in the ldd outputs I get on my system, for either Snowglobe v1.4.2 plugin, stock Cool VL Viewer v1.26.0.14 plugin, or Cool VL Viewer v1.26.0.14 with 4.7.1_2 plugin... In fact, I get the exact same list of linked dynamic libraries, see by yourself:

My guess it that somehow, one of your systems' libraries that is required by the plugin itself requires those additional SDL and libasound dependencies... The question is why it lists it with working plugins and not with the plugins I compiled... I'm puzzled, to say the least.

Also, what is the CPU of your system ?... I found out that the optimized plugin shipped with v1.26.0.14 failed to run on an Athlon XP system while it runs fine (with the same distro and installed libraries) on a Core2 system... That's why I make 4.7.1_2 (unoptimized) and will use that for v1.26.0.15, since it works on all my systems, independently of their processor... That's another "mystery" anyway, since the optimizations I used to compile the v1.26.0.14 plugin are the same as the ones used to compile the viewer... Perhaps a gcc v4.1 bug... Go figure !

Definitely not a processor issue then...

@mooreted, I suggest you try and compile the viewer yourself from the sources on your system. It's easy to do: just download and put all the source files (slviewer-src, slviewer-libs, slviewer-artwork and fmod lib) in a directory (in the following example: sources_directory), download the cmake-SL script, and from a terminal, type ./cmake-SL sources_directory

Huh, never tried compiling my own viewer. Could be interesting. Might have to wait till this weekend, work has gotten pretty busy since school started back up.

I'm sorry, I looked everywhere but I could not find source code for SnowGlobe 1.4.2.

I tried downloading the source files from the website using the links:

http://sldev.free.fr/sources/slviewer-s ... 014.tar.gz

http://sldev.free.fr/sources/slviewer-a ... 126012.zip

http://sldev.free.fr/sources/slviewer-a ... .23.tar.gz

http://www.fmod.org/files/fmod3/fmodapi375linux.tar.gz

Extracting those left me with two directories:

fmodapi375linux
linden

I searched (find . -iname "*slviewer-src*") and found nothing.

I found all kinds of 2 and 3 version source I could download from the SecondLife development pages, but nothing I could use for CoolVLViewer.

Oh, and performing the cmake-sl script on the folder I called "compile" returned:

mooreted@buntu:~/Downloads$ sudo ./cmake-sl compile
You need slviewer-src !

Just follow the links for the sources in the download section of the website ("source files used to build this release: main sources, artwork files, libraries, fmod linux"): everything you need is there !

For cmake-SL, you might have to pass an absolute path (e.g. cmake-SL /home/your_login/compile)
