Trying to use this installer on Fedora 17 ( the Beefy Miracle, yes) I get:

[root@HAL9000 ~]# ./CoolVLViewer-1.26.4.16-Linux-x86-Setup
bad window path name ".wizard"
while executing
"bind $wizard <<WizardStep>> "::InstallJammer::RaiseEventHandler %W""
(procedure "::InstallJammer::InitializeGui" line 25)
invoked from within
"::InstallJammer::InitializeGui "
(procedure "::InstallJammer::InitInstall" line 68)
invoked from within
"::InstallJammer::InitInstall"
(file "/installkitvfs/main.tcl" line 31564)

The CoolVLViewer-1.26.4.13-Linux-x86-Setup release works just fine.

My best regards.

Probably a truncated (or corrupted) file... Try re-downloading the installer (it is exactly 51881249 bytes big), clearing your browser cache before doing so.

In any case, there has been 0 change between v1.26.4.13 and v1.26.4.16 as far as the installer goes, and no one else complained of a similar problem, so it must be something wrong on your end...

Mine is exactly 51881249 size.
Anyway I will download it again by wget but it needs a bit of time because I receive files from your server at a speed of 20 KB/s. Here Italy... ;)

The webserver the file is hosted on is capable of 20Mbps+ per connection... I just downloaded the file via TOR for a try (the exit node was located in Germany, so it can't be suspected of a priviledged connectivity with my French ISP), and got 3Mbps on average (with peaks at 5Mbps)...

With newly downloaded CoolVLViewer-1.26.4.16-Linux-x86-Setup I get the same error.
I confirm that *on my end * the other installer CoolVLViewer-1.26.4.13-Linux-x86-Setup works.

Bad sector on the disk, probably...

Yes but I see that this kinda syntax error is reported for InstallJammer: http://www.installjammer.com/forums/vie ... ?f=5&t=643 and in my case it could be related to root directory...
Anyway, Henri, yours is my first TPV after more than 4 years on official LL viewers, it performs without problems with daily compiled open-source drivers ( Gallium-Mesa for Ati from Git ) and I have simply to thank you for your important work.

It's unrelated: there's no combo box in use in the installer... Tcl/Tk can throw different errors that look alike, especially since it gives a full backtrace (with common calls corresponding to the main loop at the bottom of the stack).

In my experience open source 3D drivers are extremely poor, performance-wise, when compared to the proprietary drivers, which I would therefore recommend you to use, unless they got serious bugs, which happens with ATI (got a Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 that crashes every time the mouse pointer shape changes while the CPU is 100% loaded... a hardware bug that ATI never worked around in their driver while Open Source drivers got it right...). Also, another valid reason for using Open Source drivers with ATI is the fact that their abyssal support of legacy products makes it impossible to get a working driver for modern kernels or Xorg servers only a few years after you bought their graphics card...

My advice: never buy ATI. Get the only serious and working stuff: get a NVIDIA card !

It was only an example to arrive to an explanation about the fact only your Setup ( executable) doesn't open from that directory.

Precisely. Asus f3jp and Asus Lamborghini V1Jp notebooks with a rare strained silicon GPU, RV530 (x1700), both for € 3000 less than 4 years ago, suddenly unsupported from amd-ati after an year from my purchase. I compile from Mesa Git repo for them like a sort of divertissement.

For sure! This is my behavior from... less than 4 years ago :)
