Does Cool VL Viewer write a log somewhere with some installation details? Because the 1.26.5.x versions tell me that they need to download stuff from LL and seem to fail to install it and I want to find out what's missing. The client works, but I hate installations with errors. :P

That didn't happen with previous versions.

There is no install log. The installer should not fail to download the Snowglobe archive, unless your network is badly configured (firewall blocking the installer ?). You can find the archive and downlad it manually to point the installer to it: here is the link (scroll to the bottom and get the Snowglobe v1.4.2.3626 that matches your OS).

The proprietary components that are extracted from the Snowglobe archive to be reused are the KDU library (faster image decoding) and the voice support files.

It didnt fail to download but complained after downloading and installing that it couldnt install everything and that some functionality may be missing.

A write permission issue, probably, or a corrupted (or partly) downloaded file, or a hard disk sector failure...

Is this the Win7 dialog box that asks if the install was okay or something should be retried? Or is it some dialog from the Installer?

Both. I get a message from the installer that it couldnt install some stuff it downloaded. And after closing the installer I always get a win7 error (maybe didnt install properly blabla... click try again or it did install propery)... already asked for the latter one in here, but Henry doesnt get a win7 error.

Since I asked I got a completely fresh PC (ALL new except display, keyboard and mouse) with a FRESH install of windows and coolviewer, so it can't be a borked Win7 installation. You can't have a cleaner one. :)

I always get the same Win7 error-message you mentioned. Have been getting that for quite a while. Since early v1.26.4.x if I remember correctly. I always click on "everything is fine" and it really seems to be fine. :)

No other installer errors apart from this false alarm here.

Yes, it's just Widows 7 being a bitch and not liking to have a new release overwriting an older release files. You can safely ignore it.
