funny thing that ios happening already for a while now:

if i am inworld for several hours my contacts list in the im window is going completely blank - online and offline contacts alike.
i can still double click the empty lines and new ims are opening, but i cant see whom actually i am writing to except for if i already have a logfile showing my last bit of convo with the person. it doesnt matter if i am idle or not.
After a relog the whole list is coming back again.

i already searched the jira and google, to no avail...

Please, post the log file of your hours long session (be sure to zip it so that it fits the max attachment size): this might be due to the display names fetching code (IIRC, there's some deprecation timer for the display names cache), but I need to know after how much time exactly it happens, and what warnings appear in the log when it does...

Have seen this too, but usually right after a relog, sometimes only parts of the list are blank, so fetching display name failures would be an option.

This indeed can happen on login, when LL's servers are slow to respond/laggy, but the list gets filled in after some time. No, this report is about a different issue (that I never witnessed myself), which is a connection loss with the name server.

Obviously, the viewer has been loosing the connection with the grid, one service after the other. This is a network issue and not a viewer bug. Most probably a glitch on your computer to your ISP route or between your ISP and LL's servers. Usual suspects are, beside ADSL resyncs and carrier loss, badly configured routers that drop open circuits after some time without traffic on them.

Also, please update: v1.26.5.7 got bugs that have been since fixed.

i see...again nowt i can do...the router is owned by my rentlord. oh well
so at least i know i'll have to live with it. and yea. it is an adsl connection.

Hey Henry,

First let me thank you for an awesome viewer. Never been so happy with a viewer in my 3years of SL!
Now with the problem. I have this problem with the names too, with two internetconnections and 2 laptops (one pair is mine and the other my friend's). I did a clean install with the latest release of CoolVL, and the issue didn't go away. Now I don't know how to show you logs or some sorts since I'm a complete idiot with tech stuff. But it seems that those that have a display name do not show on my friends list, nor can I see my partner at all in my profile's partner box. I can see my own name fully, and chat is ok too (local and IM). I use custom settings, which I am very familiar with, and I know it can not be that. I hope this issue gets solved one way or the other, no matter if the issue is in my end or in viewers end.

E: this issue occures on login and will continue through my log in, every time.

It's not specific to the Cool VL Viewer. I noticed this issue yesterday, with any viewer. It's a server side issue at LL (many server updates have been done in the last couples of day), obviously !
