:P

Sorry, I have no more details. :)

Are there any settings that might somehow kick in there and that I maybe messed up? Like I activate "Ping interpolate objects", I can't remember why. Maybe there's other things that might be broken?

I do not start with fresh settings.xml all the time, cause I have lots of stuff that I want different from default.

EDIT: One thing. Maybe it has to do with stacked layers? I wear several tattoo layers etc. maybe that might be a difference to your avi? Would a complete log from SL start until the bug appears help? Maybe something's happening that breaks things?

I need EVERY detail on what your avatar is wearing, what skin you are wearing and WHEN ("some time" means strictly NOTHING !). If items are transferable and copy-ok, also please pass them to me in-world (grouped inside a "box" primitive, please !).

I also need the FULL viewer log and the location where the issue happens.

Would be strange if this is mac specific, but maybe.

Did you just change the skin once? The log message about 'outdated' seems to only happen when a newer layer is applied and the old one is no longer needed.

So, as Henri said, some full logs and a better description what you actually did would help. As would the full viewer version (1.26.7.X , which X?).

When that happened last time all I did was

- fresh log in
- change skin -> works all well
- fiddled with some stuff outside SL, like posting to this forum
- changed to a different skin -> not all bits get updated

That's it. I didnt even move the avatar or something.

But I removed ALL the settings files now on the window pc, where it happened and started with clean configuration from scratch. Only fiddled with the settings I need. We'll see if that helps. Maybe it was a messed up settings.xml (I always update the client, but keep the same settings file). I couldn't reproduce the problems yesterday evening.

And Henry is wrong, it's not Mac, all the stuff I do I do on the windows PC. I only mentioned the Mac because I started a second client to see if other avatars see the borked rebaking, too, and this client was on the Mac (tried with Cool VL Viewer and Firestorm, and both saw the problem, too).

And I am always using the latest version, so 1.26.7.5. As soon as Henry posts something, I update all 3 clients (Legacy, Stable, Beta).
And earlier yesterday I removed the cache, so I have latest version, clean cache and clean settings. Will observe if stuff still goes bad.

Update.

I just tried to remove an alpha layer. It got removed, but the avatar not updated.

What I did:

- TP to a sim to buy some boots
- TP back home
- remembered I have this other item from the same shop: remove the current mesh top+ its alpha layer
- wear the mesh item + its alpha from inventory
- found out I wore the transparent version, so no alpha for it or the avatar would be invisble: remove alpha -> gets removed in inventory but not removed on screen

So I have a transparent chest now:

The avatar is wearing 5 tattoo layers, 2 underwear layers on top and 3 on bottom, 3 alpha layers and several prim/mesh items.
Caches I cleaned and rebuild completely yesterday, the settings file I deleted yesterday and started with a new one generated by the client.

This last log entry is from removing the alpha ("alpha layer upper body"). No idea why it rebakes the eyes and hair when it should rebake the upper body.

Another strange thing: when I try to rebake manually via Ctrl-Alt-R, this happens:

Cltr-Alt-R too only rebakes eyes and hair... this is weird.

Only way to fix the avi is to edit appearance. This updates ALL the baked textures:

Code:

Btw. the mesh loading improved definitely with this last build, that T you see in the screenshot usually only rezzed when I zoomed in closely or TPed out/and back, it now rezzed reliably. :D

I think I might have found the problem:

This is perfectly normal ! Alpha wearables touch all layers (even is some body parts are not masked). Same for tattoos and skins.

Ok, i tried.

- physical still attached ...
- wear the full-body-alpha -> all is going alpha except the head
- unwear and rewear the full-body-alpha again to see if this is consistent... yes
- unwear full-body-alpha
- unwear physical
- wear the full-body-alpha -> all is going alpha except the head, still :-(

--> HEAD missing here

- edit appearance -> all is rebaked, head vanishes too

Code:

- unwear und rewear full-body-alpha -> now it works

Looks like dropping the physical layer inbetween didn't change anything. Full log here. Maybe start at the end and go backwards, I did some more clothing changes before. ;)

Whatever I am trying, I cannot happen to reproduce your problem, and since you seem to be the only person affected and baking is going to change for server-side anyway, I'm not going to spend more time on this. Instead, I'll provide a more "aggressive" manual rebaking (CTRL ALT R) in the next v1.26.7 release (that should be equivalent to entering and leaving the Appearance mode).

Ok, thank you for trying. :-)

I'll continue to observer, and if I ever find something interest that's most probably helpful, I'll provide it. I have no hope, though.

Hi Henri,

She's not, I'm afraid. I have witnessed that issue on occasion myself, but to be honest never thought it might be a viewer bug, but rather generic SL insanity. Whenever it happened, I ended up relogging which obviously would fix it. Since I'm not such a clothes horse that I change outfits every 15 minutes, it never really affected me all that much either.

I could provide a log the next time it happens, but as you said, server-side baking is right around the corner, so putting a lot of energy into hunting this down would be a waste.

Love,
Lia

Yup. Put Mistress and me on that list too. We'd always just assumed it was the usual LL glitchiness too. Let's hope the new baking fixes it.

Hopefully it doesn't occur on opensim.
